Now let me let you in on a little secret Canine behaviorists like myself and dog Trainers have their favorite breeds to Work with and they have their least Favorite breeds to work with this Doesn't mean the easiest to train or the Worst to train just simply our Subjective favorites and least favorites And in today's video I want to talk About my favorite breeds to work with That when a client comes to me with one Of these breeds or at a rescue center Working with one of these breeds I get Really excited to dive straight into Hands down without a shadow of a doubt My favorite dog breed to work with is The labrador retriever there is a reason That they're the most popular breed in The world there is a reason that they Use for so many different working Purposes they're a reason that they're The best family dog in the world it's Because Labradors are amazing they're Fun to work with they have an infectious Joy for life they love to work they love To train they're eager to please Everything that a dog train or Behaviorist looks for you're going to Get in the Labrador and when you get Working lines involved stuff goes Through the roof and you can have tons Of fun everything I just said about the Labrador applies here as one of my Favorite breeds to work with is the
Golden retriever They are packed full of Joy and fun and eagerness to please food Driven great with children and when Things go wrong which is when I see dogs Which is when I work with dogs is to fix Problem behaviors things rarely go crazy Wrong with the golden retriever and even If they do even if it is aggression that We're dealing with they learn very Quickly and they are able to be Challenged very efficiently and then They're able to be redirected to Desirable behaviors very quickly and They are very eager to know what we do Want from them and what we don't want From them so even when they go wrong It's easy and quicker to fix than most Other breeds so if I know a golden Retriever is coming in for a session Usually I'm excited did and usually I'm Expecting it to go very well when it Comes to my favorite breeds to work with It's no secret that I love the Mastiff Breeds my personal dog puppy here is a Mastiff cross but if we're getting Specific of what my favorite mastiff Breed to work is it has to be the Connie Corso packs all the amazing features That come with a mastiff in terms of Protective instincts great with families Lower energy than things like Malinois And Shepherds however what the Corso Does bring break is a level of Intelligence and trainability that
Doesn't come with many of the other Mastiff breeds like bull mastiffs or English Mastiffs so for me you kind of Get the best of both worlds now when it Comes to my favorite breeds to work with It doesn't have to be their trainability Or their eagerness to please sometimes I Love a challenge and for me the Challenge that I love most is the Turkish Kangal they are incredibly Independent yet incredibly devoted and They require incredibly high levels of Skill to be able to effectively train Work with manage and live with and They're a breed that I absolutely adore So whenever I get the opportunity to Work with a Turkish candle it's Absolutely something that I jump at but Not because it's easy but actually Because it's such a challenge now yes I Love working with Labradors yes I love Working with big dogs like Mastiffs but It's not always big dogs I like to work With the small dogs I really enjoy has To be the English Bulldog again they're Not very intelligent they're not easy to Train they're stubborn they're Independent all of the things that would Go against an English bulldog are Actually the things I love most about Them because it packs them full of Character and you just can't help but be Grinning ear to ear whenever you're Around one so as a canine behaviorist
Whenever I got an English bulldog coming In to work with me I know it's going to Be a challenge I know it's going to be Difficult I know it's going to be Stubborn but I also know it's going to Be really fun
