BIG THANK YOU for your support.
If your dog is currently suffering from Fear or some type of reactivity from Loud noises like fireworks or Thunderstorms what i want you to do is Take a listen we have the setting of our Living room where we can practice this Even if it’s not the holiday or even if It’s not raining we can put on youtube The sound of fireworks or thunderstorms And we can use that to counter condition What’s counter conditioning it is just a Fancy term for how to condition Something that the dog doesn’t like into Something that it likes and how do we do That we interrupt before they get into Their underlying emotion which would be Fear in this case What does that mean in plain terms your Dog hears fireworks or thunderstorms it Causes an emotion which is fear so they See and hear Lightning and thunder and now a couple Of seconds later they get stressed out How does stress manifest in body Language so You’ll see here and it’s about the Timing right as soon as the dog hears The noise i’m going to mark in this case I will use a clicker and reward the dog The good thing about your home is you’re Able to control how loud your dog hears It and that would be able to help them Maybe stay below threshold some dogs Might be all the way scared that just
Hearing it at a low sound will cause Them to be frantic but the advantage of Controlling the volume is big and huge i Have to find a volume where you might Hear it very well So if you look at his body language As soon as i lose his attention and he Gets a little bit concerned about the tv Now I will interrupt because i don’t want Him to get into that state of mind Once their dog’s in that state of mind It’s hard to flip them out of that Survival state so if you interrupt Before that occurs now the dog is able To actually learn to just pay attention To you and that that sound is not all The way too spooky
