Welcome back to another episode this is Episode two in a three episode series of Tricks here in georgia with professional Dog trainer maureen cuccinella and we’re Going to be going over five more awesome And unique dog training tricks let’s get Started okay so the next trick that We’re going to be doing is the rebound So that’s where a dog jumps off of a Wall it looks like doggy parkour um so You can have the dog jump up a wall a Tree a pole in the future even off of Yourself if your dog is the right size So Basically what i do is i have a surface That i can slowly raise right here this Is just a corona bed place bed Cot whatever these work pretty good for This trick you just have to support them To make sure they’re stable so First i start off with just getting the Dog up onto it and then off of it giving Them that motion of going up and off up And off and then we slowly increase it And eventually get it on Straight up on the wall So griffin here has never learned this Trick okay so this is something brand New to him he’s probably gonna make some Mistakes and that’s okay you can see how We work through those things okay so i Just have the surface here Griffin Yes and i just lure him onto it i mark
And then i can use my terminal marker Break to release him and get the snack Okay and i’m gonna do the same thing This time i’m gonna do it the other way Griffin Yes Break Just like that okay Griffin Yes Break Right so i’m not using any cues with This yet until i have what i want so It’s going to be a few sessions before i Ever say anything i’m just getting him Used to this exercise in the motion Yes Break Okay when the dog is pretty confident About that like griffin’s very Confidence this with this object he’s Been up on it to it he’s been hooked Onto it and off of it plenty of times so He’s familiar with this so i’m going to Start to increase That um that slope so that way we Actually start getting it onto the pole So i’m going to increase it like this Just a little bit nothing too much Increasing that incline And i have my leg here very important i Have my leg here supporting The object upwards you see that it can’t Slide around anywhere i can’t slide over
There it’s stable So i lure him up yes Free and then he gets off so it’s very Important that we try to get the dog’s Front feet and back feet onto here if Your dog is just offering their front Feet the first session yes i will pay That but over time like maybe that Second session i’m going to ask for more And then more okay so i’m gonna lure him Up here Yes all four feet are on and then break Use my terminal marker and release him Griffin Yes Break Just like that and i like to throw the Snack so i can stay in this spot and it Increases speed and gets that motion and That push that i’m looking for griffin Oopsie Come on buddy Yes Break Good boy All right so he’s good at this um Incline right here because he’s very Confident about it he’s offering the Behavior break all on his own so i’m Going to increase it some more Just a little bit more have my foot here And support it Good boy ready can you do more Yes he’s going up on there on his own
Break and i’m releasing him off of it Again this dog has never learned this Before if your dog is very familiar with The object they’re going to be a lot More confident about it Break i’m sorry wrong word Break there we go Griffin Yes Break Just like that now i’m going to do it a Little bit more i’m doing this pretty Fast with him he’s getting it quickly Some dogs will not be this quick when i First did this with monster it took us a While she was uncomfortable with this so I had to really um Work at each step whereas this dog here Is very environmentally solid he can Jump on top of some of the craziest Object and he’s comfortable ready Yes Break just like that so increased it More he’s doing great with that as well Griffin Come on buddy i know there’s crumbs There Ready to try again I know i know i’m getting crumbs Everywhere now Come on come on come on yes Break And throw it Good i like that he’s kind of climbing
Up onto it and then getting off griffin Good boy yes Break Good boy Increase it some more Gotta reload really quick All right ready buddy Yes oh break whatever dude right so There he got a little bit not too Comfortable because of this incline Totally normal don’t make a big deal out Of it i just threw some more snacks for Him Griffin ready Yes Break Good boy so I’m going to just go ahead and start Naming this so you guys can see how that Goes about um realistically If i’m really trying to teach him this I’m going to work on this part for a While because you can see now he’s Struggling a little bit because it’s Much more vertical as opposed to where It was so If i’m working on this or if you’re Working on this with your dogs and They’re at this point i would work on This More before adding the cube but for Teaching sync we’re going to use a cue Right now Rebound
Yes right so pay him right here break It’s okay that little one that’s what One foot was off there right now again First session doing this we’re okay Rebound There we go Yes there we go Ain’t nobody Rebound Good boy good well you got this buddy You got this So i’m going to decrease it for him Because now he’s having a little Difficulty so when this happens with Your dogs because it will it’s okay to Go back rebound Yes good boy Brick You see i keep my knee here so he goes Higher And over time i can increase this more And eventually get it flat and just use My knee And lure him Up and over my knee okay and eventually When the dog is really comfortable with That you can take this out of the Picture Rebound and the dog bounces right off The wall okay so it takes some time to Build some confidence at this one super Awesome trick when it’s done Take your time don’t rush it and make Sure that object stays as stable as you
Can alright and that’s how you teach Your rebound Pretty The next trick we’re going to work on is Rewind so rewind is where the dog Goes backwards rewind in a circle behind You just like this yes it’s really good For rear end awareness by the way you Might see her sneeze when she does this Because she thinks she’s supposed to do That too because i rewarded it But the dog goes backwards in a circle Around you on cue rewind and then Sometimes i do a little not that one Rewind there we go Yes very good but it’s really nice for Rear end awareness i use it a lot in Healing to help make healing more Interesting and especially for that back Up about turn where the dog goes Backwards behind you when you turn left So I have food in both hands okay so my Left hand and my right hand When i’m first teaching this i have to Have the lure right from the dog’s face I want the dog constantly licking it not The lure up here right down here they’re Licking it and they’re moving so i take That lure and i try to turn her head Left so her butt goes back yes and i Mark that slight motion okay so Food in both hands My left hand i turn her head left and
Then that’s going to make her butt go Right and go behind me now dogs in the Beginning are going to have a little bit Of issue with that they’re going to be Like wait a minute i’m moving my head Their body’s going to wiggle around Anymore pay any effort you see toward The end goal of the dog going backwards Around you all right not gonna be Perfect at first reward any little Effort the dog gives you so Over time you’ll be able to easily get The dog to move like this yes and be Behind you okay that’s like the first Goal we work towards is you can take the Food put it right in their face turn the Head left and their body goes behind you Yes and you might have the shoulder at Your back legs that’s what i’m looking For so when we get to this part that’s Where i need to use my other hand okay So my left hand I’ll get her to push her as far as i can And then i’m going to switch And i’m going to turn her body yes and Then this is where that next step is Right so the first step is just getting Her head to turn her butt to turn some Then behind me and now i’m looking at Getting my right hand to push her over Here on my right side all right I’m going to show that again Okay so Food and left hand we turn the dog’s
Head yes dog rotates their butt To your right then i switch hands when The dog’s head is right behind me and i Turn her head left and she should move Just as so okay it took her a little bit To get this one too Took her a little bit to get a lot of Tricks in the beginning so any little Effort i just paid and i built on it Okay so then i could push the dog yes Right back to my left side over here Okay i’m gonna do this quite a few times Food in both hands left hand Turn her head to the left so her butt Goes backwards Good Switching hands when she’s behind me yes And then pushing her up to rotate out in Front here this part might be a little Hard for your dog at first they may they Might go more this way that’s okay you Can make that radius smaller and smaller And then i want to yes and where she Starts okay so she starts here she goes Backwards and then th that is where the Command ends as well she should do a Full circle backwards behind you and Then over time rewind you can start to Add the cue Yes and you can start to use less food Okay so there i didn’t reward her back Here i rewarded her over this way okay i Rewarded her when she got here Rewind take the food push her in
Yes i didn’t even reward this part right Here right so over time you can see okay My dog’s got this turn i don’t have to Reward that anymore i’ll reward when the Dog gets over here and then eventually Rewind you can just get the dog to do it On a hand signal yes and the verbal cue Good job Free Nice and that is how you teach the Rewind next up is limping okay so in Order to teach this dog first your dog Has to know how to give you their left Paw or their right paw you can even do Both and eventually teach a nice little Skip which is super cute um but today We’re just going to focus on one paul Just to make things really easy so paul Very simple trick There’s youtube tutorials about paw Everywhere i’m not going to go over that I’m going to go over the limping side Okay so i have a platform here To keep her on so that way she doesn’t Get too anxious and move around so much So it can be useful in the beginning but I wouldn’t say you absolutely need your Dog to be on a platform you can do this Straight on the ground but she’s a very Eager dog she’s going to offer me all Sorts of stuff unless i have a nice Answer here for her so i’m going to get Her standing stand Come on that’s a girl so
After your dog knows right paul how to Give you their paw like this yes and are Very good about that we now need to get The dog comfortable standing still and Keeping their paw in the air with you Being further away because the goal of This exercise is to say lint the dog Lifts their paw and then they walk as Their paw is up stand good girl so she Knows paw giving it to my hand so i’m Going to use this to build some distance So this is just a telescoping shoe horn Really love this thing it’s very useful For if i want to build more distance With the command versus always having to Be up in the dog’s space so I’m going to tell her right paul and i’m Going to put this right under her paw Yes so that she almost grabs it with That right paw that’s what i’m looking For so that way she learns how to stand With her paw up because this can be Really hard for yes that was really cute Sorry she did something i’ve been Working on her with for i just marked And reward it So stand Good girl right paul And i just get the dog to hold on to This yes and stand for a little bit and Then eventually we’re going to move Forward right paul Yes very nice Right paul
Almost There we go Yes good job very good so when the dog Is able to stand with their right paw or Left paw being up that is where i can Move on to the next step okay especially If she’s doing it on her own right paul You see that yes that dog has a lot of Confidence and stability in the behavior So this really helped me out with that Okay whereas it would have been a lot Harder to build that with just using my Hand monster free so i’m going to get Her off of here now because i wanted to Get her moving Come on baby Sit Good so stand There we go we gotta work on our stands Don’t we good girl so she knows exactly What we’re doing I’m gonna have a lure in my right hand And then i’m gonna have my little stick Right here in my left hand so i’m going To keep her still with the food Right paul put this right under her Right paw Come on baby yes oh great paul I know Come on I know we’re going back steps yes There we go i had it under the wrong leg And i’m going to lure her forward yes While i hold that paw upwards
Yes and i mark As she moves forward with her paw up Good girl i’m going to show you this a Couple times Right paul Yes Right paw Yes good job and so Over time you’ll feel that she’s going To your that your dog is going to put a Lot less pressure on here and they’re Going to start doing it on their own Okay right paul So that’s where i have this next to it Yes just in case they need a little bit Of help but at first the dog is solely Relying on this they are putting all Their weight on here until they get that In their muscle memory this takes time Just like with all the other tricks it Takes some time so be patient and do Quite a bit of repetitions but keep it Short okay like five minutes or so so Um having it next to her paw right paw Using the food to lure her forward yes Right Yes right and at this point Now i can start to introduce the word Limp okay Good girl ready bring her back over here Lymph Yes Yes good job Yes
Just like that and also i’m not saying Link over again you just need to say it One time and that way you can get Multiple steps just on one cue so when The dog’s doing it really well With the stick near them But not um relying on it i can just put This off to the side monster And then i can ask for the limp Limp and i do this little hand signal Here Good girl Good job Break yay And then you have a nice limp and like i Said earlier if you teach it with the Dog’s other paw which is what we’re Working on right now the dog so for her Her left paw you can teach him how to Switch and actually do a cute little Skip all right so super fun dog trick That’s a trick that lassie is famous for The limp Not yes That was better I have monster here and we’re going to Teach you how to teach your dog to nod Their head like they’re saying yes okay So first your dog needs to have Understanding of what a target stick is So this one here has a little foam top On it so it makes it very clear where i Want the dog’s nose to hit and so first You want to introduce the stick make
Sure your dog yes understands that when They’re presented with that target stick To actually touch that target stick like That i didn’t mark there but she she got Her food Touch yes and you want to have a cue With it whether it’s touch or target or Whatever yes very good so after your dog Can touch it above their head to the Side of their head yes and below them so The below the chin is probably the Hardest Yes to get after your dog can get that One you are now ready to teach your dog How to nod so Basically i take this and i just put it Yes downwards and she touches it and i Pay her Yes good job Yes good job and you’ll notice i have Her on the platform so that way she’s Not crawling off of it crawling towards Me again very eager dog Yes very good so you see how she’s very Easily yes touching it when it’s below Her so now i can start add the q to it Okay Very important we’re saying the q before We’re introducing the help aka the Target so i’ll say Not and then i’ll yes Have her touch it just like that Nod Yes
Very nice Nod Yes and you’ll see she’s going to start To anticipate when she hears the word Nod the target stick is going to be Prevent uh presented right below her and She used to touch that target so she’ll Start to beat you to that and therefore Nodding on her own nod Yes which is why it’s very important we Have that break between the word nod and When that target’s presented so the dog Has a chance to do the behavior without The help Okay that’s very pretty mad Yes very good now my word there was a Little too close to my presentation of The help Not Yes very good but that’s exactly what I’m looking for that break and then Eventually you get this really nice Nod of their head really fun for uh Certain tricks or maybe even videos of Having your dog not the head to a song It’s really cute but yeah that’s how you Teach mad next up is how to teach your Dog to cover their eyes so you’re going To need some tape so i got some scotch Tape right here And basically we teach us through Capturing so capturing is where the dog Does something naturally we mark it we Reward it and then we eventually name it
When we can predict that’s going to Happen so I have the tape I’m going to put it on his nose and he’s Going to try to whack it off as soon as He tries to whack it off his nose i’m Gonna mark yes and i’m going to pay him All right you thought you he thought i Marked you huh so i put this right on His nose he’s already anticipating it Yes and so i’ll mark and then i’ll pay Yes yes i mark and i pay you get a bonus Yes good boy And i pay so he’s doing it very Consistently so i would name it with him Right away Cover yes so i just say cover personally And he whacked the tape off it’s on his Foot now yay super fun Here we go Okay so we’re gonna put more on his nose Now Got some slobber It’ll probably get a little slobbery When you’re doing this expect that and Put that right on his nose here oh he is Drooling yes i didn’t get a chance to Cover tell you the command Cover yes Good boy Yes good job cover yes Good job Cover yes and within one within that Same session if he’s doing it
Consistently i’m going to try taking the Tape off right this one is as a command That’s learned really quickly cover yes And if for any reason your dog is having A hard time doing it without the tape When they have the tape on i’ll just tap Their nose and give him a little hand Signal like that but he’s doing it so Consistently he knows what’s up so i’m Going to go ahead and add the key with It let’s get this tape off your foot all Right So i’m going to tell them cover All right got distracted some food cover Yes good boy he recognized that little Hand signal from me booping his nose With the tape on it right so he was able To understand oh yeah i got to put my Foot over my nose cover Yes good job Very good boy And that’s how you teach cover Thank you again for watching make sure You guys hit that like button subscribe Hit that notification bell if you want To support the channel you can become a Member just click on that join link Below and we’ll see you guys in the next [Music] [Music] You
