When people see me Pat walking dogs like This on beautiful loose leads people can Become envious I understand it’s what People want and I’m a huge advocate that Absolutely every dog owner in the world Can absolutely enjoy a dog that walks Beautifully to heal and in this video I Want to focus on some mistakes that People make that result in them having a Dog that pulls terribly as opposed to a Dog that walks beautifully just like This so the first mistake that so many People make is not starting from day one Letting that little puppy do what they Want when they want whether they’re on Lead or not on lead and they’re Wondering when they start getting bigger Very quickly going into that adolescence Phase why things go badly quickly so you Need to make sure that if you want a dog That walks beautifully to heal that you Start it from day one you build this Level of Engagement you help your dog Understand what you mean when we say Close Good sit yes and not just starting from Day one place Sit Stay but always working on it always Dialing it up always tuning it off Training is never done you need to make Training a regular part of you and your Dog’s life from day one if you want to Have the same kind of success that you
See me being able to help people achieve Here on YouTube so if Point number one Is about not starting early with your Dog the second Point has to be around Not using the right tools and equipment Now I wish I could tell you that there’s A one-size-fits all for every dog but That simply isn’t true now what is true Is that for the vast majority of dogs I Use a trusty fenrir slip lead that is my Go-to tool there are some dogs that can Go lower down with flat collars even Harnesses there are some dogs that need To go higher up the tool Spectrum but It’s important that you build that Relationship with your dog from day one Where you can in them work out what the Right tool at the right time is for them My third point that I want to make today Is around people having unrealistic Expectations or expecting too much too Soon yes with my experience with my Skill set as a canine behaviorist I can Achieve success quickly much quicker Than people that might be working with Their first dog so I want to encourage You not to watch any videos that we put Out or other people on YouTube see how Quickly we may be able to achieve Success and then be disheartened if it Doesn’t go as smoothly for you but what I do want you to take from those videos Is confidence that it absolutely can be Achieved and if you don’t expect magic
In the very first session and you’re Willing to take your time go through the Process step by step enjoy the success That you’re having with your dogs and Don’t go from them pulling really badly To thinking you can walk through Times Square beautifully to heal all in the Space of one day you’ll be able to stay More calm and the calmer you are the Better leader you are and you can focus On your communication skills enjoy the Step-by-step progress enjoy the success That you have in with your dogs making Sure that you’re rewarding them for Those little bits of success and Accepting that all dogs are different Eileen here takes longer to learn things Than our work in Labs do puppy here is Somewhere in between but we take our Time with everything that we teach them We adapt what we’re doing to meet their Skill their personality and their Characteristics and by doing so we have Realistic Expectations by focusing on Communicating them with them in a way That works I’m able to be able to go on These beautiful loose lead walks and you Can 100 achieve the same thing as well So I hope you enjoyed this video if you Did do all the dogs a favor subscribe to The channel and I can’t wait to see you On the next episode [Music]
