[Music] So [Music] All right folks welcome back to another Episode of adventures in dog training With american standard dog training and Diy k9.com and if you’re checking out Right down here we have the almost Five-month-old beautiful all-black mr Loki and he is finishing up his board And train program he goes home in two Days and then over here to your left my Right we’ve got little mo the about four And a half month old belgian malinois Female she’s got a little eye booger Won’t wipe that for her and we are going To be taking them on their final little Test run as part of our board and train Program We take them out and about we take them Into busy places and we’re going to be Going into a pet store where we are Going to walk them around sight sound Smells toys fish maybe other dogs and We’ll see what what today brings us it’s Kind of unscripted we know we’re going To hit the pet store but there’s Restaurants and other things that we Might pop into so we’re just trying to Show you What it could look like If Uh An experienced balanced trainer

Thank you my friend for being with me But focus on me i know it’s exciting Where we’re going but it’s kind of like Pulling your kids to the side before you Go in disney world i know you’re happy To be here but be on your best behavior And if you’re on your best behavior you Get paid if you aren’t we’re going to Have to leave early and we don’t want to Have to leave early so before we even go In the store we’re pulling him to the Side having that little conversation With him via leash pressure all right We’re heading in let me show you how It’s done must stop and wait at all Doorways so he needs to stop he needs to Sit I need some attention from him i can ask For it watch Yes that’s his reward But we’re just going to kind of move Around Check out some things Um and see what see what he thinks about It when he sees uh Hamsters and lizards and birds and such So a lot of sight sound smells It’s good it’s great actually to take Your puppy out and about places but make Sure you bring a hungry dog And have some obedience I’m gonna stop and give him a little pop To let him know stay with me and then I’m going to ask him to sit
And on the next one if he sits that slow Again we’ll give him a little correction Right Dogs are constantly learning there’s no Such thing as like a finished product Where the dog is just Fully trained it doesn’t exist by the Time your dog gets perfectly trained It’s time to get a new dog if you catch My drift okay there’s no such thing as a Fully fully trained dog you gotta Constantly be working with them so uh When do you stop learning right as a Human it’s the same for dogs so we’re Gonna constantly keep them in check and And make sure they’re doing the right Thing and if they do we let them know They’re doing a wonderful job we have Decided to forego the food We have it on standby show we wanted to Need it But the issue is We got the haters out there and if you Bring food they’re like ah it’s only Listening to you because you have food And then we bring food or no food and They say well they’re only listening to You because you’re using tools um folks You know i’m not trying to please Everybody we’re just gonna do it the way We’re gonna do it sometimes with food Sometimes without food sometimes only Sometimes no leash so It’s good good variety variety is the
Spice of life And just in case anybody’s wondering Exactly how all these puppies are and to Prove how young they are let me get him Back in a sit A little pressure if he’s off base there He’s very excited Check out he’s still got um That’s a that’s a puppy canine Puppies uh lose their adult teeth around Uh between like four and five months so He’s Probably closer to five months in four Months i don’t have his birthday Memorized and i think she’s just a Couple weeks younger so she should still Have more puppy teeth let’s see i’m Lines you see same thing has one there Almost all adult teeth coming in that’s A puppy tooth there and there these are All adults And that’s a puppy tooth Yep So Just to kind of show you and prove to You how old they are and How well behaved they are even at this Young age so I’m going to work both of them now So you can kind of watch and see that His motor’s up a little bit we make no Excuses um trying to be easy on him but We’re gonna have to tone his motor down Just a little bit so we can get a little
Better obedience out of him so that’s Gonna come with sit and immediate Stiffer pressure for for fedora to Comply real sharp because he’s capable Of doing better So he’s just his motor’s up he’s excited And so that should slow him down just a Touch okay So what’s nice though is He knows what leash pressure is most Importantly he knows how to turn it off How do i know because after he finishes Itching You’ll see we’ll just lift them up Very mild right fingertip pressure Fingertip pressure Like a little like a little baby Put them all the way down good And hurt too And they can be little buddies there And this would be a perfect time to pay Them so We have food way over here but just Let’s call my helper Because it’s not fair they’re doing a Good job they’re getting paid they Should be getting paid for doing a good Job so It’s just to show you can still have Obedience where they have food on you or Not But they’re still learning right there’s It’s probably their first time ever in a Pet store all these sight sound smells
Or some birds over there and they’re Doing wonderful Would have been in a few minutes let Them know like when you listen when you Behave when you’re down and you Downstate you get paid let’s try a Downstair real quick just a short one While we’re there Stay I’ll come over here i’m gonna get some More food now she didn’t so we’ll reset Her put her over there we’ve been doing A lot of healing work with her so she’s Very inclined to Want to go with us so Stay good stay I’ll get some more food Hang out with the fish we’ll come back In a minute i will once again tell them To stay So they’re doing good And we come back and we pay them so you Need them nice and calm nice and calm And he’s very happy he’s a little food Monster she is too uh but he’s he’s even On a scale of one to ten their food Drive hers is a solid like six or seven His is Eight nine ten Which is nice so you can train him Longer harder he stays focused uh she Starts to check out after her tummy gets Full i don’t know if i’ve ever seen his Tummy get full no like he just keeps
Going like he’ll eat till he pops so we Don’t let him do that Very nice you know very nice And you can see the idea if you continue To wash rinse repeat this like their Training like i said is not done i said That earlier when we hand them off to The owners we’re going to show them Everything we’re showing a little bit to You behind the scenes so that when they Take them to the pet store they can Maintain the same level of obedience Imagine if we come in the pet store 10 Times over the next 10 weeks It’s just gonna get better and better Each time and that’s what we’re striving For uh consistency is key with dog Training if you’ve seen me Several times kind of check him a little Tap saying hey bubba don’t get in front Of me we can use this tool to do the Same thing If the dog has been conditioned properly On how to use it you don’t just get an E-collar put it on your dog press Buttons and they know how to turn it off Or they’re going to heal next to you it Doesn’t work that way you’ll make you’ll Make problems worse but again if you Head on over to diy k9.com unleash Course there for you shows you step by Step a through z how to take your puppy From zero to hero everything from a to z So here we go heel
Good girl All right we’re in the equipment and toy Section of the pet store and we’re going To kind of go over quickly some of the Stuff we like and a lot of stuff that we Don’t like so let’s move on okay Sit Good so before we pass them too far we Are really not a fan of a lot of these Collars reason being many of them are Plastic it’s not about the brand there’s A lot of crappy brands out there Nothing plastic ever on your dog they Can chew it it will break it’s not it’s Not good for you all right in a pinch Yes you need something quick for like Your eight week old puppy to last a week Or two before you find the good stuff That’s fine get you this but after a Week or two throw it out throw it out It’s not good down here we have Harnesses i hate harnesses don’t use Them you don’t need them there are a lot Better options out there including Biothane and leather collars made with Leather biothane and metal that will get The job done check out the link in our Description to our amazon affiliates Account and it’ll show you uh the stuff That we recommend and that we use for Instance he’s wearing one right now Leather and metal martingale collar herm Springer prong collar versus stay Versus this no-name brand chrome-plated
Crapola it’s not good folks don’t get These prong collars at the store They’re already pretty expensive spend Just a touch more and get something that Will last a lifetime and then some all Right and we do not recommend typically Chrome plated chrome plated has nickel In it and nickel is very Dogs are basically allergic to it their Skins most dogs skin does not like Nickel plating or chrome so you want to Go stainless or kerrigan on your prong Collars Also I’m really not a fan of these All right They just It’s not if they fail it’s when they Fail you don’t have a lot of control the Lines can get tangled up If you want your dog to be 15 20 30 feet Out which is what those do afford you Get a 15 20 or 30 foot lead or A quarter mile lead digital leash let’s Keep pushing he can stay in that Beautiful downstair right there as he’s Doing Now let’s let’s tell you about something We do like then that’s the kong brand we Love kong they put a lot of thought into The safety of your dog and they’re Making Products that are meant to get just Absolutely demolished but not ingested
Right we use these we’re very familiar With it in our industry because police Work those dogs have powerful jaws a lot Of drive and so if you give them a toy They will get to work on it real quick So This is your typical kong that you might See a police canine handler use and They’ll put a it could be just like this Or they’ll put a string on it kong on a String ball and a string Indestructible that’s why we love kong You can put peanut butter in there you Can put treats in there I highly recommend this brand We’re not sponsored by them or anything Not yet kong if you’re listening all Right so we have this squeaky toy here So these are great for puppies and adult Dogs and they love that sound Think about why your dog might like that Sound what in the wild might make this Sound Almost like it’s screaming while it’s Getting chewed and it’s not to be funny But think about that it’s activating a Prey drive it’s biting on Something that’s four-legged and fuzzy And Screaming You kind of get where i’m going with it It’s still cute to play with a puppy That likes this but The other concern that we have i mean
That’s fine i don’t care if the dog Thinks it’s killing the toy You ever seen a puppy just absolutely Destroyed Like they’re trying to murder it Because they’re tapping into thousands Of years of catching rabbits in the wild And Murdering them um putting that to the Side the reason we’re we have to be Mindful of this tool our toy is because And i and i called it a tool because it Is it you can teach a fetch with this You can teach tug of war with this but What you don’t want to do is leave this Unattended for any length of time with Your puppy high value toys like this Need to be put up high somewhere where Your dog can’t get to them or locked up And you bring it out and you play with Your dog for two to five minutes or ten Minutes with this toy and then put it up Don’t just leave this on the floor or Put this in the crate with them to Snuggle up with because which what They’re gonna snuggle up with they’re Gonna rip out the innards of this get to That squeaker toy likely ingest it and The stuffing and that’s not good for Your dog or puppy that’s a three or four Thousand dollar surgery if not kill your Dog because of a blockage so be very Careful when you’re buying Any kind of stuffed animal that they
They remove the eyes that there’s no Stuffing i mean it’s always a risk Because they can ingest any of that so We were having fun earlier when we found This we did a little tick tock video and I knew this was the toy section but i Think this toy is called uh double your Pleasure triple your i have no idea what This is doing in a pet store You want to feed him some food There you go As long as he stays in the down thank You If you wanted sure we could try Something There you go So it’s going to take him a second to Figure it out i haven’t double healed Him or her Yes Good there we go that’s nice that’ll Probably get it right there Yes Good Let’s see if they nail this turn Yes Very nice and then we’re looking for That s-i-t i’m gonna help him out though Yes very nice We always say this training two dogs at The same time is not twice as hard it’s Easily four times as hard so Stay Stay
A little extra with the hand commands For that exact reason You get paid for staying you young lady You get to come right back here and Stay Sit Good stay that’s what we want to see Good now let’s see who can Get this Down Yes So helping out with the hand commands Because we’re just at a slight distance There just a few feet away makes the Picture different but not bad not bad And we will Okay okay heel We’re gonna go this way We are getting ready to check out we’re Going to heal over there they’re going To be on the best behavior while we Check out that’s what we’re hoping for Anyways Okay we’re now going to be checking out So let’s see how the checkout process Goes with these two little ones here Sit come on bubble i want you right here Good stay i got to buy all these toys For you all so you got to wait patiently I have to turn my back are they still Behaving yes they are cameraman’s Keeping an eye on them so are you the Folks at home and i appreciate that And we’re all set we’re all set now we
